Internal Technical Discussion Sessions on Common API 610 Centrifugal Pump Challenges in Process Units, with the Participation of Wikow Pump and Fitco’s Technical and Commercial Experts
Given Fitco’s official representation of Wikow Pump in Iran and in line with maintaining and enhancing technical expertise in the field of rotating equipment, a series of internal sessions were held with the presence of the CEO of Wikow Pump.
During these sessions, common issues related to API 610 centrifugal pumps—including OH, VS, and BB types—used in process industries such as oil, gas, and petrochemicals were discussed. The meetings also covered the manufacturer’s innovations aimed at delivering optimized technical solutions.
Among the common challenges of conventional API 610 centrifugal pumps discussed were:
- Insufficient NPSHa
- Cavitation
- Lubrication system deficiencies
- Air and gas release issues from pump suction
- Long maintenance times for certain pump types and incompatibility with operator conditions
- Fluid crystallization during transfer
- Transfer of high-temperature and high-pressure slurry fluids in polypropylene (PP) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plants, leading to significant issues in wet parts, bearings, lubrication systems, mechanical seals, and excessive vibration
- Gasket-related issues in BB3 pump overhauls under maximum pressure limitations
- Sealing and flushing plan challenges in BB3 pumps
- Sealing, vibration, bearing, casing, and mechanical contact problems in high-speed OH6 pumps
- Brine and seawater transfer issues
- Common challenges in molten sulfur transfer
It is worth noting that Wikow Pump has the capability to provide effective solutions to the above challenges and, as the first Chinese company in this field, has successfully registered patents addressing these technical issues.
